After six years the World Championships for Icelandic horses will be back in Herning in 2021. We are looking forward to welcoming the best horses and riders of the world together with thousands of international spectators, so we can all together have a fantastic celebration of the fierce Icelandic horse!
From August 1st to 8th 2021 Denmark will again be the host country for this great event. And while the location in Herning should be known to most Icelandic horse enthusiasts, the team behind the competition might not.
The World Championships 2021 will be organised by Lone Bertelsen, Ole Søgaard, Rasmus Møller Jensen and Stine Sandahl, who together form Hestar Event Aps. The team also stands behind the successfull Icehorse Festival, the world’s biggest wrl indoor competition for Icelandic horses, which premiered in 2018 and also takes place in Herning.
And also the outdoor track in Herning is a familiar competition ground to exeptional horses and riders. It has been used for national breeding assesments, national and nordic championships and also several world championships. To also allow the best presentations posssible at the World Championships in 2021, the track will be completely renewed and rebuild before the competition.
About Herning, a city in the heart of Denmark: The city of Herning has approximately 47.000 residents and is located in the heart of Jutland close to the main highways. There are two international airports nearby: Karup, 20 minutes by car and Billund, 45 min. It is only about 1,5 driving hours from the German border. The city is easy to reach and offers a wide selection of restaurants and accommodations for every budget. – The perfect city for an international event.
